A career devoted to the mental and physical well-being of women throughout their lives:
In my practice, I provide consultation, treatment and therapy for women in the area of women's mental health. A physician with over 25 years experience, I belong to a professional community of women's health care providers in the San Francisco Bay Area. Many of the referrals to my practice come from my colleagues in obstetrics and gynecology, pediatrics, and family medicine, physicians who are uniquely positioned to understand the interaction of physical and mental health.
Physicians in women's health care often establish life-long relationships with patients helping them to identify emotional stress as they deal with physical and hormonal changes and life events. I have extensive expertise in maternal health and high-risk pregnancy management with a focus on serious mental health and physical conditions before, during and after pregnancy. I am an expert physician educator in the Bay Area in the area of perinatal mood and anxiety disorders.
My unique background and extensive experience:
A graduate of Yale Medical School, I received my subsequent training in Obstetrics and Gynecology at Brigham and Women's Hospital and Massachusetts General Hospital, Harvard School of Medicine. I am a member of the College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists, and former director of the Women's Mental Health Program at California Pacific Medical Center.
I have worked with women who have experienced pregnancy complications, serious medical conditions in their newborns and genetic abnormalities through a sub-specialty fellowship in Perinatology (Maternal Fetal Medicine) at the University of Texas Health Sciences Center in San Antonio. I have a post-graduate degree in mental health counseling. I work in collaboration with patients to navigate increasingly complex therapeutic options.
